The Committee for Higher Education in the Prisons, established in 2010, is a consortium of faculty and staff across the City University of New York, coordinated through the University Faculty Senate. Excited to discuss ways we can collectively offer resources to address violence caused by mass incarceration? Join the club (literally!). Join partners and artists for the opening of Return to Sender: Prison as Censorship, an exhibition curated by Mariame Kaba and co-organized by PEN America. The exhibition features writing and art by incarcerated creators that examine how prisons enact censorship and limit free expression for incarcerated authors, readers and artists. The LACUNY Roundtable on Services for Incarcerated People is hosting a workshop (open to all CUNY library faculty and staff) with the Prison Library Support Network. The workshop will include an overview of PLSN’s values and and a detailed review of  its reference practices. Afterwards, anyone interested will be able to sign up to answer reference letters. Other ways to be involved in PLSN will also be covered. The workshop will be December 15, 3:00-5pm. Please register here. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants.
