PLSN will be hosting a volunteer event on Saturday, September 16th. You do not need to be a trained PLSN reference volunteer to attend.

WHERE: Lunita Loft (576 3rd Avenue, Top Floor, Brooklyn NY 11215) Please note that unfortunately this space is only accessible via stairs ~~ roughly two flights.

WHEN: Saturday, September 16, 12-5pm (You can arrive at any point during those hours, and stay whatever length of time works for you!)

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:You do not need any specific skills (or reference training) to participate in this event. However, if you are a trained reference volunteer and would like to answer a few reference letters from our backlog during this time, we invite you to bring a laptop and do so!

Prepping Envelopes to Mail Reference Project Updates

Requires: Transcribing scans and addresses written on paper mail by hand.

Why This is Important: We need as many helping hands as possible to address and stamp a couple hundred envelopes (if you were at our first event, you know this is quick work! We will have the rest of the mail printed at this event, as well as a printer in case we run out of tasks.) This work will allow us to share crucial updates about our reference letter service to incarcerated people around the country. The recipients of these updates have been waiting longer than anyone for responses and we are desperate to make sure they know how hard we are working to get back to them.
